STAPLETON & SPRINGER
MAX SEIN WEIN
Basket Press Wines is a London-based wine import and distribution company. Our focus is to source real, living wines from Central Europe. We are a small, family owned company, with an aim to work and support smaller, unsung growers. Jiří is originally from the Czech Republic and has been part of the UK drinks industry for more than a decade. Zainab's background in food and drinks spans over 10 years -- formerly worked in sales with a wine merchant, as a sommelier and prior to that editor of a food and drinks magazine.
Many of our wines have been listed in top establishments including Michelin restaurants too. To name a few Sat Bains, Moor Hall, Pollen Street Social, Ottolenghi, Sager+Wilde, Noble Rot, Hide, amongst many others
Basket Press Wines is a result of unearthing outstanding winemakers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
This group of winemakers dared to go back to the traditional winemaking methods, that is farm organically and allow the wines to follow their natural evolution in their cellars. Amongst them are true pioneers, who have set the way for the younger growers in their region to believe in themselves and think beyond the dogmatic approaches.
We want our growers' voices heard and wines discovered by intrepid drinkers here in the UK.
To request our trade price list, please get in touch with us at / Zainab@basketpresswines.com. We supply across the UK.
You can get in touch with us with any special requests. Given Zainab's background of working as a sommelier in top establishments in London including a Michelin-star restaurant, if you were after any specific style of wine, or were planning events, special sit-down dinners at your home or at an outdoor venue - we can match our wines to suit the occasion, food, tastes and budgets. All you have to do is phone us or shoot over an email. We are here to help!

In the Press
Jiri and Zainab from Basket Press Wines have invested a lot of time and effort to pick out the winemakers who have steered away from the somewhat base, old-fashioned practices but instead are revisiting more traditional, low-intervention ways.

Wide World of Wine
The wines imported by Basket Press are some of the most interesting I’ve been introduced to over the past few years, and I do put my money where my mouth is by purchasing them. Remember that, as with my monthly roundups of wines drunk at home, I’m way beyond pretending to assess quality per se. I prefer to judge each wine as I drink it. How much am I enjoying it? Tasting something new and different, so long as it’s enjoyable, is way more exciting than tasting something I’ve drunk dozens of times before…usually. If you follow my philosophy, then trying these wines should be exciting.
