Magula - Gabay - Bernheim SEN 2020

This new release from the Magula family is a collaboration between them and Elizabeth Gabay MW and her son Ben Bernheim. Elizabeth has written books on rosé and it has always been her dream to make her own rosé, given her passion for this subject. But the obsession for the palest of rosés that might be drunk for a month or few weeks in a year, which usually lack any character or substance, Elizabeth was determined to make a wine that can be enjoyed throughout the year and really show the potential of this category. This meant the wine works so well with a range of dishes, and can be slightly cooled down as well.

Not too long ago, Elizabeth, Ben and Vladimir Magula started talking about this idea. The result is anything other than one which a “rose” drinker might be familiar with. This is a serious wine, a very special one, with long maceration on 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Frankovka (all coming from two sites in Slovakia - Cab Sauv from volcanic soils and the Frankovka from Vladimir’s vineyards). Giving it a deep, bright, ruby-coloured hue. A hold on the palate from gentle tannins, and a medium-bodied weight with a long finish! Very beautiful and an extremely well-judged wine. Now available to buy on our website.
