Dluhe Grefty, Moravia, Czech Republic
DLUHE Grefty, which translates as Long Rows, is Jaroslav Tesarik’s project in Mutěnice. Balancing a day job, family life and following a strict organic regime in the vineyards and producing such high qulaity wines from 1.5 ha is worthy of so much respect! Jaroslav bought his first vineyard 10 years ago, but only started selling commercially in 2015. With such a short time on the market, his wines have gathered a following and lots of love and respect across the globe. With all the wines being snapped up really soon, the allocations are tiny.
The soil here is dominant with loess and clay, and varieties grown here are Muller Thurgau, Gewurztraminer, Neuburger, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Welschriesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Neronet, and few other varieties that are part of field blends in one of his oldest vineyards from 1953.
